
Maintenance Technician
Danville, VA
Maintenance employee(s) will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
As required, this position is expected to have timely quality communications with:

What you will do:

Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.

Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.

Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.

Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.

Performs routine maintenance on building systems.

Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.

Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.

Performs other duties as assigned by management

High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Experience working in a warehousing and production environment

Strong “people skills”

Positive attitude, team-oriented approach to problem resolution, and open to new ideas

An excellent understanding of plant resources (people & equipment) and how to engage these resources in a positive manner

Good housekeeping skills

Physical Requirements:
This position requires continuous standing, walking, lifting items that are up to 70 lbs. and moving materials using forklifts, hand trucks, carts, etc. This position requires use of computers and software. The position also requires the use of hand tools that are manual, pneumatic or electric. Work can be repetitive by nature and employees must wear proper PPE including gloves, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes, dust mask, apron, etc. on a continuous basis based on specific tasks.
